The European University Viadrina is an international and interdisciplinary university that educates around 4,000 students from all over the world in law, economics, and cultural studies in the twin city of Frankfurt (Oder)-Słubice, located on both sides of the German-Polish border along the River Oder. It lives the European idea in everyday life, promotes European integration in teaching and research and, with around 300 academic and 300 non-academic employees, forms a community that is particularly concerned with successful communication and cooperation with Eastern Europe.

The Faculty of Business Administration and Economics is seeking to appoint a

W3 Professorship for Statistics (m/w/d/x)

to be filled at the earliest possible date.

The holder of the professorship is expected to strengthen quantitative teaching and research within the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics and to contribute to the university’s strategic profile, with a particular focus on Europe and digital transformation.

The ideal candidate is expected to:

• demonstrate a research record in the development of statistical methods and algorithms and their application to economic and business research, preferably in one or more of the following areas: Statistical Learning, Time Series Analysis, Statistical Process Monitoring, Spatial Statistics, or Causal Analysis,
• have an outstanding and wide-ranging publication record in leading international peer-reviewed journals in statistics (including econometrics),
• be able to teach statistics in an application-oriented manner at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels within the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, in both German and English,
• have experience in acquiring and managing externally funded research projects,
• demonstrate the ability to transfer research findings into practice.

The following is non-essential, but considered an advantage:

• willingness to develop and apply innovative teaching methods;
• willingness to involve practitioners in teaching activities;
• willingness to actively contribute to interdisciplinary projects and study programs;
• interest in collaborating with colleagues from Central and Eastern Europe;
• willingness to integrate aspects of gender and diversity into teaching and research.

This call for applications addresses academics who fulfil the requirements according to § 43 of the Brandenburg Higher Education Law (Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz, BbgHG). The professorship is permanent.
