Two PhD-Positions at the Univ. of Leipzig
At the university of Leipzig we have two vacant PhD positions in the stochastic analysis group with a duration of three years under the supervision of Max von Renesse. Possible research directions concern applications of stochastic analysis e.g. in geometry, physics or statistics.
Together with the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences (MPI-MIS) and some world class research groups Leipzig offers a lively and stimulating environment for research in a variety of intertwining mathematical disciplines.
Each position comes with a teaching load of 2 hrs per week during semesters. The positions are to be filled by October 15th preferably. Some knowledge of basic German is helpful but no must.
The ideal candidate (m./f.) has an excellent recent Masters or Diploma degree in mathematics or theoretical physics with a strong background in a combination of at least two of the following fields: stochastic analysis, differential geometry, (stochastic) PDE, optimal transport theory or statistics.
Applications should include a CV, transcript of university diplomas and a list of up to three potential contacts for letters of recommendation.
Further inquiries and applications should be sent to Prof. Dr. Max von Renesse, email@example.com. Application deadline is 24 September 2020.
