There are two open PhD positions for a project on time-series analysis of historical maps at Leibniz University Hannover.

The Institute of Cartography and Geoinformatics (ikg) is inviting applications for a project centered around "The temporal change of geodata - universal time series analysis for change detection and reliable predictions", a project within the Gauss Center of the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG).
Two half-time positions are currently available at ikg for individuals interested in contributing and doing a PhD in the topic. The first position is focused on statistical time-series analysis and generalised additive models, while the other requires experience in automatic analysis of scanned old maps using Deep Learning methods. Doctorate studies may also be pursued as part of this project.
