Am Lehrstuhl für Stochastik des Instituts für Statistik und Wirtschaftsmathematik der RWTH Aachen ist eine befristete 2/3 TLV-13-Stelle als
wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in (m/w/d) (Doktorand/in oder PostDoc)
mit dem Ziel der Promotion oder Weiterqualifikation nach den Regularien der RWTH zu besetzen. Eine zukünftige Aufstockung wird angestrebt.
Der/die erfolgreiche Bewerber/in besitzt sehr gute Kenntnisse in Stochastik und Statistik, bringt Erfahrungen in und Freude an Forschung und Lehre mit und hat einen sehr guten Masterabschluss (oder vergleichbar oder Promotion) in Mathematik, Wirtschaftsmathematik, Technomathematik oder Statistik. Gute Kenntnisse in statistischer Programmierung (R, C/C++/Python) werden erwartet. Sie/er hat Interesse an der Verbindung von Theorie, Methodik und Anwendungen und kann sowohl eigenständig als auch teamorientiert arbeiten.
Aktuelle Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in sequentiellen Change-Point-Verfahren, hochdimensionaler Statistik, Stochastik für zeitdiskrete abhängige Daten (speziell Zeitreihen und zeit-räumliche Daten), Empirischen Prozessen, auch mit Bezügen zu Machine Learning/AI.
Eine Einbindung in unsere Forschungsprojekte ist möglich und wird angestrebt.

The chair of stochastics at the Institute of Statistics at RWTH Aachen University invites applications to fill a 2/3 (TLV-13) position for a
Scientific Assistant (Ph.D. position) or Research Assistant (PostDoc), m/f/d
according to the rules of RWTH. Depending on available semester budgets position and salary can be lifted (up to 100% TLV-13).
The successful candidate has very good skills in stochastics and statistics as well as experience in teaching. He/she has a master (or equivalent or Ph.D.) in mathematics, applied mathematics, business mathematics, techno mathematics or statistics. Good skills in statistical programming (R and C/C++/ or Python) are expected. He/she is interested and experienced in combining theory, methods and applications and can work both independently and in a team.
It is intended and planned to integrate him/her in ongoing and planned research projects. Current research studies sequential change detectio, highdimensional problems in asymptotic stochastics and statistics, statistics for dependent data (especially time series and spatial-temporal data), also related to machine learning/AI.

- Eigenständige Forschungen mit dem Ziel der Weiterqualifikation (insbes. Promotion)
- Mitarbeit im Forschungsprogramm des Lehrstuhls
- Mitarbeit an der Entwicklung und Pflege von (Online-) Lehrmaterialien
- Betreuung und Beratung von Studierenden
