The Institute of Medical Biometry and Informatics (IMBI) of the Heidelberg University Hospital successfully supports medical research projects and develops biostatistical methodology. Within the EU project “Identification and Management of Patients at Risk – Outcome and Vascular Events in Peritoneal Dialysis” (IMPROVE-PD), the IMBI is, in cooperation with the Pediatric Nephrology research group, involved in data management and statistical analysis and has access to large international PD data banks. For planning and conduct of statistical analyses of these comprehensive data sets, we are looking for a

STATISTICIAN / BIOMETRICIAN / DATA SCIENTIST

Candidate description: This unique opportunity requires an enthusiastic candidate, willing to interact and cooperate across scientific and geographic borders with different international research centers for combining the data and subsequent detailed statistical analyses. The position presupposes a strong background in (bio) statistics, mathematics, data science or a related field. Willingness to understand the clinical background is a must. The position, which is part of the initiative Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks, is addressed to early stage researchers and gives the opportunity to do a doctorate.

Required skills:
· In-depth knowledge of key biostatistics, including analysis of longitudinal and multivariate data and handling of missing values
· Very good programming skills in statistical software such as R or SAS
· Strong motivation and ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary team
· Analytical and structured way of working and a high degree of quality awareness and sense of responsibility
· Excellent communication skills in English (and preferably also in German)
