PostDoc Position in Mathematical Statistics, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf

At the Institute of Mathematics in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf a post as a

scientific employee (postdoc, 100 %, pay grade 13 TV-L)

is to be occupied at the earliest possible date. The employment is limited to a period of two years with an option for prolongation. It is a qualification position in the sense of the Act of Academic Fixed- Term Contract (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG), which is to promote the scientific qualification of the employee.

The position is located at the Chair of Mathematical Statistics and Calculus of Probabilities, and is associated with the professorship on mathematical statistics. The research interests of the group comprise nonparametric statistics, time series analysis and extreme value statistics, among others.

Your tasks:
• Participate in the research conducted at the chair, for instance on topics worked on in SFB 823 “Statistical Modeling of Nonlinear Dynamic Processes”
• Increase your scientific qualification
• Teaching load of 4 SWS (4 hours per week)

Our requirements:
• A completed scientific university education (M.Sc. or Diploma) and a PhD in the field of mathematics or statistics
• Profound knowledge of stochastics and mathematical statistics
• Interest in developing and investigating statistical methods, preferably within the research areas of the chair
• Desirable: good programming skills, for instance in R or Python

The pay scale grouping will be, depending on the personal qualification of the applicant, up to pay grade 13 TV-L.

In principle, the employment can also take place part-time, if no compelling official reasons are opposed in an individual case.
