PhD Positions in Tuebingen

The independent junior research group “Mathematical and Computational Population Genetics” at the University of Tuebingen has an opening for PhD students (f/m/d) The research projects are at the intersection of Mathematical Population Genetics / Computational Biology / Bioinformatics.

The PhD students will use mathematical population genetics, phylogenetics, statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and large scale simulations to derive new theoretical results, develop open source software and/or apply them to (microbial) genome data. Ideally, we are looking for someone who is interested to study diffusion processes modelling the population dynamics of species with CRISPR-Cas systems and/or the inference of ancestral events and phylogenies based on CRISPR spacer arrays, but other topics are possible. The review of applications will begin in July 2021 and continues until the positions are filled. More information can be found at and
