PhD position, TU Clausthal
The working group Data Science and Applied Statistics within the
Institute for Mathematics of TU Clausthal is looking for a
Research Assistant
(if the personal requirements are met E 13 TV-L, 75%, place of duty: Clausthal-Zellerfeld)
For an initial period of 3 years in part time starting on 01.02.2024. Within the scope of the job, further scientific qualification (doctorate) at the TU Clausthal is intended.
The Institute for Mathematics at the Clausthal University of Technology has a strong focus on applications. The job opening is within the Data Science und Applied Statistics group. The research focus of the group is on Probabilistic Deep Learning, Statistical Data Science and Computational Statistics.
Your tasks are:
Research in explainable AI and the analysis of non-tabular data with methods such as Deep Learning, Neural Additive Models and Normalizing Flows
Publication of research results in international peer-reviewed journals
Presentation of research results at international conferences
Development of scientific software, especially for machine learning and statistics packages
Teaching support linked to the focus of the research
Your profile:
Excellent degree (MSc equivalent) in statistics, data science, mathematics, computer science or similar with strong relations to statistics and machine learning
Independent, structured way of working and fast comprehension skills
Enjoyment of discussions and exchange with other scientists
Good programming skills in R, Python or C/C++
Teaching experience
Very good written and spoken English
German language skills are a plus
