PhD position at the University of Salzburg

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Human Interfaces (AIHI) of the University of Salzburg is seeking to fill a part-time PhD position (75%, 30h/week).

The successful candidate will become part of a very active research group in the field of dependence modeling

  • Starting date: As soon as possible.
  • Extent of employment: 30 hours per week.
  • Duration of employment: 1 year with the aim of a joint application for further research funding for 3 years. Complementing/Alternative opportunities for contract extension via participation in applied projects of the IDA Lab Salzburg will be discussed after 6 months.
  • Minimum gross monthly salary: € 2.684,10 (paid 14 times per year)
  • Place of work: University of Salzburg, Austria
  • Job Description: Basic and applied research in the field of probability, statistics, risk analysis, and machine learning.
  • Profile: The applicant should have completed the Master's degree in mathematics / statistics with the focus on probability / statistics.
  • Welcome additional qualifications: Excellent academic achievement; solid foundations of machine learning methods & theory and knowledge of nonparametric statistics; excellent command of written and spoken English; excellent coding skills in Python or R.
