PhD fellowship: Flexible geometry model for corrosion inhibitor particle systems
The Image Processing department of the Fraunhofer Institute for
Industrial Mathematics in Kaiserslautern is looking for a highly
motivated Ph.D. student who develops a Flexible geometry model for
environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitor particle systems.
Coatings that actively counteract corrosion have been used for a long
time, do however often still contain toxic chromates. Structural
optimization based on stochastic germ-grain models can help to find
environmentally friendly alternatives. The challenge is to model the
high variability and the interaction of several structural components
and to extract the needed structural information from 3D images.
