Open PhD / Postdoc Position - Mathematical Statistics at TUM

The research group for Mathematical Statistics in the Department of Mathematics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) has an open position for a

Ph.D. student or Postdoc (100%)

starting October 1, 2022 or later.

The candidate will join the group of Prof. Mathias Drton (https://www.math.cit.tum.de/statistics/personen/mathias-drton/) whose work has a broad focus on statistical modeling and inference of dependencies in multivariate data. Graphical models, including structural causal models, are at the core of much of the research, which is connected to a number of different areas, ranging from causal inference, high-dimensional statistics and latent variable models to algebraic statistics.

Responsibilities of the position include participation in teaching. A competitive salary and benefits are paid in accordance with the public service wage agreement of the Free State of Bavaria (TV-L E 13).

*Candidate profile*:

- Master's/PhD degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field,
- Strong mathematical preparation and interest in Statistics,
- Good computational skills (e.g., in R),
- Fluency in English (knowledge of German is a plus but not a requirement).
