24 month postdoc position in probability at Lancaster University
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Lancaster University is inviting applications for a 24 month Postdoctoral Senior Research Associate position on the project "Permutations with random cycle weights and Bose-Einstein condensation", funded by the Leverhulme Trust.
This is a probabilistic research project and the main aim of this project is to extend the model of weighted random permutations by replacing deterministic cycle weights by well chosen random cycle weights, and to study the asymptotic behaviour of this new model and potential applications.
The successful candidate is expected to hold or be about to receive a PhD degree in mathematics or a related discipline. The candidate should also have experience with one or more of the following topics: random permutations, loop models or quantum spin systems. Candidates should also have a demonstrable ability to both carry out and publish academic research in pure mathematics. Further, the candidate will be expected to work independently and in collaboration, engage with new ideas, and contribute new insights. The position comes with some travel/collaboration funding and carries no teaching duties.
For informal enquiries about the project, please contact Dr Dirk Zeindler (firstname.lastname@example.org).
